Mrs. Swen's Piano Studio

Welcome to Mrs. Swen's Piano Studio! I am Laura A. Swenson, a professional pianist, private and group piano instructor, and owner of Mrs. Swen's Piano Studio which is part of Music Dynamics of Wales LLC. I currently teach 30, 40, 45, and 60 minute private lessons as well as 40 minute partner lessons. These studio lessons include theory, technique, ear training, and repertoire. In order to provide acessibility for my students to music festivals, competitions and master class opportunities, I currently hold membership with the Music Teachers National Association, the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association, and the Greater Milwaukee Chapter of WMTA. I have obtained a Bachelor of Piano Performance from Alverno College and I hold a Permanent State and National Certification from the Music Teachers National Association. Since 1978 I have held almost all Executive Board and Administrative Council positions within the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association and within the Greater Milwaukee Chapter. In the Music Teachers National Association I worked on the MTNA Certification Board. In March of 2011, I was honored with the MTNA Foundation Fellow award from my Wisconsin State Colleagues. A very huge honor!

History

Mrs. Swen's Piano Studio evolved out of Music Dynamics of Wales LLC which previously evolved from the Music Dynamics Corp. I have been teaching in the Wales and the surrounding communities since October of 1992. I have dedicated my life to providing music lessons to students of all ages. My main goal is provide quality instruction so that each student may find joy and happiness in their accomplishments. I manage the business operations as well as teach the piano lessons, and my husband, Dale is the VP of Operations and maintains the beautiful exterior and interior surroundings to insure a comfortable atmosphere for lessons.

Equipment

My studio is equipped with a beautiful Kingsburg Baby Grand Piano. I feel that all students should experience the fine quality of sound that this instrument brings to their ears. I also use many other enhancements in the lessons such as background accompaniments played through a wireless speaker while the student performs their pieces, computer theory games during the lesson or while they wait for their lesson, numerous flash cards and supplementary theory games, etc. Practice incentives are also used in the form of motivational charts and music dollars!
